People Development Blog

The People Discovery Blog is a bit of a labour of love.  I love sharing new ideas, concepts and strategies to help leaders, managers, business owners, or anyone interested in people development see fresh and new perspectives, or even to reinforce their own great practices.

My blog includes topics on leadership development, leadership practices, human resources.  My leadership development model is the filter for all of my work, both in how I help clients and also how I write.  You can find out more about the model here.  I believe that inside of everyone is a higher self which is powerful, loving, kind and creative.  In addition I believe that when you can come to the realisation that we are all connected, then it is inevitable that a unity consciousness develops.  The power of living life through unity consciousness is that it resolves all conflicts and unites all people.  I hope you learn and enjoy my blog.  I wish you peace, love and enlightenment in your life.

Getting the Performance Management Equation Right

Getting the Performance Management Equation Right

Performance Management is an Art! If you want to be cutting edge you need to measure your results and performance manage your team. Getting the best out your people can sometimes be a stressful business. In my many years of managing and subsequently as an HR professional, one of the biggest barriers to great performance management is that people have different perceptions of what performance management is about. Even terminology […]

Employee Benefits as an Employer of Choice

Employee Benefits as an Employer of Choice

Make your Employee Benefits count I am not talking here about a financial employee benefit. If you are a great employer you know the market levels of financial reward and presumably you are paying a fair salary in return for the work of your employees. Pensions are another financial employee benefit which I know is subject to all manner of pressures, so you may not be able to offer a […]

Gross National Happiness on the balance sheet?

National Happiness is a tangible outcome! Because of my commitment to great people management and engagement, I was heartened to discover that the UN conference on national happiness and wellbeing which began in New York City on 2nd April came to the conclusion that good performance on GNP (Gross National Product) didn’t automatically mean that GNH (Gross National Happiness) increased at a similar rate. Yes, really, Gross National Happiness!  For […]

Organisational Change – Making the Best of Bad News

Organisational Change - Making the Best of Bad News

Its not the organisational change – its how you do it! I recently held a workshop which had a section around organisational change and particularly redundancy.  It’s obviously a big subject at the minute, and one which is exercising many managers and HR professionals. What struck me about the difference within this workshop to those I had held before was that there was less discussion about the case for redundancy.   […]

Silver Lining – Find the Hope in every Cloud

Silver Lining - Find the Hope in every Cloud

Every Cloud has a Silver Lining A couple of weeks ago, I heard from a young mum of three.  In a downsizing by her husband’s company he lost his job after one interview.  He had been in the job for 14 years, and loved it.  Now I don’t know the detail, so I don’t judge.  And I know such hard decisions have to be made if the money simply isn’t […]
