Heartfelt Leadership – A Seasonal Wish

Heartfelt Leadership - A Seasonal Wish
A heartfelt Christmas wish for you

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
          Soon the bells will start
And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing
          Right within your heart”

I come from a large family.  We are very close although we don’t tend to spend Christmas Day as a complete family unit, for a number of reasons.

One time we did all spend Christmas together was after my mother passed on.   I remember it well; we made the massive effort for each other, but mainly for my Dad.

It was one of the most miserable Christmases I think we ever spent, we could hardly eat the food; we drank too much wine to numb the strangeness of a Christmas without the cornerstone of our family.

It was also full of warmth and care, although no-one pretended to be having a good time, we all made an effort,  it was us kids (Adult kids) , who led the way this time, we knew life went on, and it was authentic, but mostly it was heartfelt.

We all have sad, happy, lonely, lively, funny, Christmases because that is the reality of life as a human.  It is the constancy within those ups and downs, when leadership comes to the fore, and everyone is guided through.

Everyone is a leader to someone, even if it’s being a leader of oneself.  This Christmas wish is for everyone, whether you celebrate Christmas or not, class yourself as a leader or not.  Real, authenticity comes from the heart, and it means you are true to yourself whether you are happy or not, able or not, make mistakes or not.

My wish for you this Christmas and in the coming year is for it to be heartfelt.

When you come from the heart, your beliefs, your thoughts and your emotions are aligned and you:

  • Forgive yourself
  • Accept yourself
  • Feel your feelings whether happy or sad, and know how to always turn towards hope
  • Think well, be kind, and give yourself the benefit of the doubt
  • Gain clarity, undoing resistance
  • Develop faith, undoing doubt and uncertainty
  • Maintain trust that everything you need will come to you.
  • Think abundantly, know there is no lack of what you need and want
  • Be happy, knowing how to make the choice for happiness every day
  • Be at peace, because you can have more fun if you aren’t at war with yourself or anyone else.

A tall order?    Well yes, but who said heartfelt leadership shouldn’t have big aspirations!

Thank you to all my fellow bloggers, connections, supporters, followers, and leaders, friends and family.  A Heartfelt Christmas and New Year to you all.

  4. As I was reading your list I thought that actually it shouldn’t be a tall order as most are states of mind/attitudes – the easiest things to change! Or are they the hardest??? they should be the easiest because there are no external things to affect.
Have a great new year1 Always enjoy your posts!

    • Andy thanks for your kind comments :) The list entries are states of mind, or in some ways states of being, because it”s to do with heart and mind, and yes on the face of it, they should be easy, but I’m guessing not, but of course that is to do with my own experience. The biggest culprit is of course the unconscious and all that stuff which brings us down into anger, or worry, when we can’t seem to help ourselves. For me, I have had to work hard not to let externals affect my mindset, but just when I think I’m getting somewhere something comes up to challenge me :)

Thanks for commenting, and making me think! – Happy New Year to you too!
